The Damascus Calling and the Suffering-and-Risen Messiah
Acts 26:12–23 centers on the damascus calling and the suffering-and-risen messiah. Paul retells the Damascus encounter: a midday heavenly light, Jesus’ question, and a commission to make Paul a servant and witness, delivering him while sending him to Jews and Gentiles 'to open their eyes' and turn them from darkness to light and Satan’s power to God. Paul says he obeyed, preaching repentance, and insists he says nothing beyond Moses and the prophets: the Messiah would suffer, rise from the dead, and proclaim light.
