Stand in the Armor of God
Believers are commanded to be strengthened in the Lord and in his mighty power, put on the whole armor of God, and stand against the devil’s schemes. The struggle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, cosmic powers of darkness, and spiritual forces of evil. Truth, righteousness, readiness from the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and God’s word are pictured as God-given armor.
Where this fits in the story: the strongest biblical background is Isaiah’s divine-warrior imagery. Isaiah depicts the LORD wearing righteousness and salvation and announces good news of peace with messenger-feet language. Ephesians strikingly clothes God’s people with armor associated with God’s own righteous warfare.
