Put Off the Old Humanity, Put On the New
Paul insists that believers must no longer walk as the Gentile world around them walks—in futile thinking, darkened understanding, alienation from God’s life, and hardened desire. They did not “learn Christ” that way. Christian transformation is pictured as putting off the old humanity, being renewed in the spirit of the mind, and putting on the new humanity created according to God in true righteousness and holiness.
Where this fits in the story: creation language returns. The new life is not self-invention; it is God’s recreative work restoring a humanity that reflects him. Ephesians therefore joins the Bible’s creation and new-creation Threads.
