One Household, One Holy Temple
The formerly alienated are no longer strangers and foreigners. They are fellow citizens with the saints, members of God’s household, and stones in a growing holy temple built on the apostolic and prophetic foundation with Christ Jesus as the cornerstone. The climax is not a building but a people being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.
Where this fits in the story: Scripture moves from tabernacle and temple as concentrated signs of God’s presence toward a people joined in the Messiah and indwelt by the Spirit. Cornerstone imagery also belongs to the prophetic and psalmic stone tradition.
