False Signs, Rejected Truth, and Judicial Deception
The lawless one’s coming imitates divine power but comes “after the working of Satan,” with power, signs, lying wonders, and unrighteous deception. Deuteronomy 13 already warned that spectacular signs do not automatically authenticate a messenger.
Paul’s deepest point is moral: the deceived “received not the love of the truth.” God’s sending of “strong delusion” belongs to Scripture’s wider pattern of judicial hardening, where persistent rejection itself becomes judgment. First Kings 22, Psalm 81, and Romans 1 are useful comparisons, not formal quotations.
