The Coming of Jesus, Our Gathering, and the Day of the Lord
Paul addresses “the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ” and “our gathering together unto him.” The believers have encountered a spiritual claim, spoken message, or letter represented as Pauline saying the Day of the Lord is already present.
The KJV reads “day of Christ” in verse 2, while the strongest critical Greek text reads “day of the Lord.” That difference matters because “Day of the LORD” is a major Old Testament prophetic expression.
Aha: Paul joins Christ’s coming, the gathering of believers, and the prophetic Day in one discussion, but he does not hand readers a complete modern end-times chart. He gives pastoral correction and signs, not permission to force every later system into the text.
