Faith and Love Growing under Pressure
Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy write again to the Thessalonian assembly. The believers are still under pressure, but Paul first notices that their faith keeps growing and their love for one another keeps increasing.
Where this fits: 1 Thessalonians already praised their faith, love, and hope amid affliction. The second letter shows that the pressure has not disappeared. Their perseverance in persecutions and tribulations becomes the setting for the letter’s great questions about God’s justice and Christ’s return.
