Many Afflictions, Unbroken Bones, and Redemption from Condemnation
The psalm refuses simplistic prosperity theology: the righteous may have many afflictions, yet the LORD delivers and ultimately redeems his servants. Verse 20 adds the striking statement that God keeps all the sufferer’s bones and not one is broken.
John 19:36 says Jesus’ unbroken bones fulfilled Scripture. Passover texts are a major source for that wording, and Psalm 34:20 is also an important verbal parallel; exclusive source assignment is debated. A responsible reading should show the strong Christological resonance while marking the source question rather than claiming certainty where the Gospel gives no citation label.
