Israelite Credentials Reversed Into a Catalogue of Suffering
Paul can match the rivals’ Jewish credentials—Hebrew, Israelite, seed of Abraham—but his argument turns sharply when he asks who is a servant of Christ. His evidence becomes labor, imprisonment, beatings, danger, hunger, sleeplessness, and daily concern for the churches. Apostolic legitimacy is interpreted through the suffering pattern of Christ rather than through conventional honor.
