The Earthly Tent and the Heavenly Dwelling
Paul continues the seen/unseen contrast with the image of the body as an earthly tent. He longs for God’s lasting heavenly dwelling and for mortality to be swallowed up by life, not for a merely disembodied existence as an end in itself. God has prepared believers for this future and given the Spirit as the earnest that guarantees the coming completion.
