The Son of Man Comes in Clouds and Gathers His Elect
After the tribulation Jesus describes sun, moon, stars, and heavenly powers shaken, using the cosmic vocabulary of Israel’s prophets. Then people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory, and angels will gather his elect from the ends of earth and heaven.
Where this fits in the story: Daniel 7:13–14 is central. Daniel sees one like a son of man coming with the clouds to receive dominion from the Ancient of Days. Mark’s Jesus takes that imagery into his own future vindication and authority. Isaiah and other prophets supply the cosmic-judgment language surrounding it.
