The Tomb Is Empty: He Is Risen
After the Sabbath, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bring spices to anoint Jesus. They wonder who will move the stone, then find it already rolled away. A young man in a white garment tells them not to be afraid: Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified, has risen and is not there. They are told to tell the disciples and Peter that Jesus is going before them into Galilee. The women flee trembling and astonished.
Where this fits in the story: the one repeatedly predicted to be killed and rise has been vindicated. “And Peter” is especially important after Peter’s denial; restoration remains possible even for the disciple who failed publicly.
