Not My People Reversed: One Head and a Future Gathering
The first chapter refuses to let judgment have the final word. Immediately after “not my people,” Hosea speaks of an innumerable people who will again be called “sons of the living God.” Judah and Israel will be gathered under “one head,” and the day of Jezreel—previously associated with judgment—will become “great.” Hosea therefore establishes one of the book’s central patterns: the LORD names sin truthfully, allows covenant consequences to arrive, and still preserves a future of restored identity.
