The Righteous Branch from David
The restoration promise returns to David. God will perform the good thing He promised by causing a Branch of righteousness to grow up to David; he will execute judgment and righteousness, Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell safely. The promise also joins royal and priestly continuities within God’s covenant purpose.
Coming Savior connection: Jeremiah again promises a righteous Branch growing from David’s line. The New Testament does not quote Jeremiah 33:14–15 directly, but Luke’s announcement that Jesus receives David’s throne and reigns forever places Him squarely inside this Davidic-Branch expectation. Jeremiah’s repeated Branch promise therefore contributes to the larger prophetic portrait of the coming righteous Davidic King fulfilled in Jesus.
