Abel, Enoch, and Noah: Faith before Abraham
Abel offers a better sacrifice by faith and receives testimony that he is righteous; Enoch is translated so that he does not see death, and Hebrews explains that his pleasing God belongs to faith; Noah responds to a divine warning about events not yet seen and prepares an ark. Genesis gives the narratives; Hebrews supplies inspired interpretation by naming faith as the decisive response. These examples also show that faith is active: worship, walking with God, and costly obedience flow from trust. Verse 6 states the principle plainly—approaching God requires believing that he is and that he rewards those who diligently seek him.
