Assyria Floods the Land of Immanuel
Isaiah 8:5–10 is a distinct movement within Isaiah’s opening Jerusalem-and-Judah section. It centers on Assyria Floods the Land of Immanuel. In Isaiah’s own horizon, judgment is repeatedly paired with a surviving remnant and the hope of a righteous Davidic reign. This unit shows how the book sets human pride, false refuge, or covenant failure against the LORD’s holiness, judgment, saving action, and promised restoration. Later canonical uses are explained separately: explicit New Testament interpretation is labeled explicit, while echoes, trajectories, and foreshadowing are kept at their proper evidence level.
