Children, Parents, and the Lord
Children are told to obey their parents “in the Lord,” and Paul explicitly quotes the command to honor father and mother, emphasizing the promise attached to it. Fathers are then warned not to provoke their children to anger but to bring them up in the Lord’s discipline and instruction.
Where this fits in the story: Ephesians carries the Decalogue into a Christian household without treating it as a bare relic of Sinai. The command is heard under the lordship of Christ and paired with a direct responsibility laid upon those with parental authority.
