Repentance, Restoration, Moses, and Abraham’s Blessing
Acts 3:17–26 centers on repentance, restoration, moses, and abraham’s blessing. Peter addresses his hearers as brothers, acknowledges ignorance, calls for repentance and turning so sins may be blotted out, speaks of times of refreshing and restoration, and identifies Jesus with Moses’ promised prophet. He closes by invoking the Abrahamic promise that all families of the earth will be blessed.
The wider biblical story comes into focus here. Deuteronomy 18 and Genesis 22 are not merely cross-references: Acts explicitly interprets them in the Jesus proclamation. Moses’ prophet promise and Abraham’s worldwide blessing converge with the Messiah sent first to Israel to turn people from wickedness.
