Prayer for the Foreigner, Exile, and the Davidic King
2 Chronicles 6:32–42 forms the movement “Prayer for the Foreigner, Exile, and the Davidic King.” Solomon explicitly includes the foreigner who comes because of the LORD's great name, asking that God hear so all peoples may know Him. He also prays for Israel when sent to war and when exiled after sin. The prayer ends by asking God to remember David and not turn away from His anointed king.
In the book’s larger argument, Solomon’s dedication prayer interprets the temple as a place toward which a sinful people may pray to the God who hears from heaven, including the foreigner.
