Solomon Strengthened as King
2 Chronicles 1:1–6 forms the movement “Solomon Strengthened as King.” The chapter opens with Solomon established firmly as king, for the Lord his God was with him and made him exceedingly great. Solomon assembled all Israel, including military commanders, judges, and leaders, and led them to Gibeon, where the tabernacle of meeting and the bronze altar were located. There he offered a thousand burnt offerings upon the altar. This scene highlights Solomon’s devotion to seek the Lord at the beginning of his reign. His dependence upon worship reflects the truth that true strength and authority come only from God.
