Psalms 98:1–5
The LORD has done marvelous things, made known His salvation, remembered covenant love, and shown saving power before the nations. The psalm’s worldwide horizon makes it a natural part of the canonical background for gospel proclamation. Its language of revealed salvation is theological trajectory rather than an identified direct New Testament quotation in this section.
All the earth is summoned to joyful praise with instruments before the King, the LORD. The passage belongs to the cluster of enthronement psalms that shape biblical worship around divine kingship. Later worship of Christ as King should be explained through the New Testament’s own claims, not assumed merely from verbal similarity.
Revelation 5:8–9 strongly echoes Psalm 98’s combination of new song, musical praise, and celebration of divine salvation. The heavenly scene therefore stands inside an established psalmic worship pattern while redirecting the song around the Lamb’s redemptive victory.
