Revelation 12:5
Revelation 12:1–6 portrays a radiant woman in labor, a great red dragon waiting to devour her child, the birth of a male child destined to rule the nations, and the child’s being caught up to God and His throne. Psalm 2 supplies the royal rule language, while Genesis and prophetic birth imagery shape the larger scene. The woman then flees to a divinely prepared wilderness place.
Revelation 12:5 directly reuses Psalm 2’s messianic promise of ruling the nations with a rod of iron. The male child’s destiny is therefore framed in the Psalm’s royal language, making this one of Revelation’s clearest Psalm 2 echoes.
