Vindicate Thy Name and We Will Give Thanks Forever
The closing prayer asks why the nations should be allowed to say, “Where is their God?” It calls for divine justice, asks God to hear prisoners marked for death, and promises multigenerational thanksgiving if he acts. The desired vindication is therefore both rescue for suffering people and public defense of God’s name.
Revelation’s judgment scenes reuse similar language of answering the blood of God’s servants, and that is a strong canonical echo. A careful reading should not imply that Psalm 79 gives a timetable for end-times vengeance; it gives the biblical vocabulary later Scripture uses to speak about God finally answering persecuted people and vindicating his justice.
