Moses, Passover, the Sea, Jericho, and Rahab
Faith moves from the patriarchs into the exodus and conquest. Moses’ parents hide him despite the king’s decree. Moses refuses the status available in Pharaoh’s household and chooses suffering with God’s people; Hebrews even calls that identification “the reproach of Christ,” an inspired Christological reading that goes beyond Exodus’ own wording. He keeps the Passover, Israel crosses the sea, Jericho falls after seven days, and Rahab welcomes the spies and does not perish with the unbelieving. The examples stress costly allegiance to God’s promise under political threat and visible disadvantage.
