The Enthroned Son and Ministering Spirits
The chapter closes with Psalm 110:1, one of the New Testament’s most important messianic texts. The Son is invited to sit at God’s right hand until his enemies are made his footstool; angels, by contrast, are ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation. Hebrews is not disparaging angels. It honors their divinely assigned ministry while insisting that their place is fundamentally different from the enthroned Son’s. The right-hand image will return repeatedly, linking kingship, priesthood, completed sacrifice, and Christ’s continuing heavenly ministry.
