You Are God’s Temple—So Abandon Boasting in Human Wisdom
Paul asks, “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” Here the “you” is plural: the congregation together is God’s temple. That raises the stakes of division. To damage the church through destructive rivalry is to attack sacred space belonging to God.
Paul then returns to wisdom. The wisdom of this world is foolishness with God, supported by Job 5:13 and Psalm 94:11. The scriptural quotations are not attacks on careful thought; they attack self-confident schemes that make humans the measure of reality.
