Psalm 2 Becomes the Church’s Prayer
Acts 4:23–31 centers on psalm 2 becomes the church’s prayer. Released, the believers pray—not first for safety, but to the Creator for bold speech. They quote Psalm 2 and explicitly identify Herod, Pilate, Gentiles, and peoples of Israel as the rulers/nations gathered against God’s holy Servant Jesus. The place shakes and they are filled with the Spirit to speak boldly.
The wider biblical story comes into focus here. This is inspired interpretation of Psalm 2 inside the narrative itself. Creation sovereignty, the Anointed King, opposition of nations, and Spirit-empowered witness meet in one prayer, showing how the early church reads suffering through Scripture rather than around it.
