The True Bread from Heaven
The crowd searches for Jesus because it ate bread, but Jesus redirects them from perishable food to the food that endures to eternal life. They invoke the wilderness manna and a scriptural line about bread from heaven; Jesus corrects both tense and source—the decisive giver is the Father, and the true bread is the one who comes from heaven and gives life to the world. Jesus then declares, “I am the bread of life.” The exodus provision was real, but it becomes a God-given pattern that reaches beyond itself to the Son.
Who Jesus is — Jesus is not simply a new Moses supplying more manna. He redirects the crowd from Moses to the Father as giver and identifies himself as the true Bread of Life who gives life to the world.
