The Courtyard and the Summary of Materials – Ordered Worship and Honest Stewardship
As Bezalel continued to obey God’s precise instructions, he constructed the courtyard that would enclose the Tabernacle. The outer court was defined by linen hangings, bronze bases, and silver hooks, with its entrance on the east side. Exodus gives the orientation and dimensions but does not explain the eastern entrance as a symbol of the rising sun.
Every detail of this construction reflected order and holiness. The courtyard served as a boundary, distinguishing what was sacred from what was common. It separated God’s dwelling from the outer world while inviting His people to come closer, one step at a time—from the altar to the basin to the Holy Place, and ultimately the Most Holy Place where His presence dwelled.
