The Fall of Jerusalem
Jerusalem finally falls. Babylonian officials sit at the middle gate, Zedekiah flees and is captured, his sons and nobles are killed, and the king is blinded and taken to Babylon. The city is burned and most people exiled, while some poor are left with vineyards and fields. The catastrophe fulfills the warnings Jeremiah had repeated for years.
