Jehoiachin Lifted from Prison
Jeremiah does not end with Jerusalem burning. Decades later Evil-merodach lifts Jehoiachin from prison, speaks kindly to him, gives him a seat above other captive kings, and supplies him continually. The Davidic king is not restored to Judah, but this small reversal leaves the royal story alive rather than erased at the end of the book.
Second Kings and Jeremiah both close the Jehoiachin story with his release from prison, elevation above other captive kings, and provision at the Babylonian court. The repeated ending places a small but deliberate sign of Davidic survival after national judgment and prevents exile from becoming the final word on the royal line.
