Hezekiah’s Illness, Prayer, and the Sign of the Shadow

Isaiah 38:1–8 is a distinct movement within Isaiah’s historical hinge in the days of Hezekiah. It centers on Hezekiah’s Illness, Prayer, and the Sign of the Shadow. In Isaiah’s own horizon, Assyria’s threat, Jerusalem’s deliverance, and the first clear turn toward Babylon anchor the prophecy in history. This unit shows how the book sets human pride, false refuge, or covenant failure against the LORD’s holiness, judgment, saving action, and promised restoration. Later canonical uses are explained separately: explicit New Testament interpretation is labeled explicit, while echoes, trajectories, and foreshadowing are kept at their proper evidence level.
