The Ark of the Covenant – God’s Presence and Mercy
The sacred construction continued as Bezalel, the craftsman chosen by God, turned his hands to the most holy object in the Tabernacle: the Ark of the Covenant. Crafted from acacia wood and overlaid with pure gold, the Ark was a small chest that held immense spiritual weight. It represented the very presence of God dwelling among His people.
Its lid, called the Mercy Seat, was fashioned from solid gold. Two cherubim faced each other, their wings stretched upward, overshadowing the seat where God's glory would descend. It was here, between the cherubim, that God said He would meet with His people (Exodus 25:22).
