Acts 13 describes David as the man after God’s heart who will do God’s will, drawing on the divine search announced after Saul’s failure while also using later Davidic Psalm language. The apostolic sermon therefore gives a Christward reading of the Saul-to-David transition without reducing its composite scriptural background to one verse.

Acts 13 compresses Saul’s removal and David’s elevation into the salvation-history line that culminates in Jesus. The apostolic sermon therefore reads Saul’s rejection in relation to the transfer of kingship toward David and the later promise that from David’s seed God would raise Israel a Savior.

Paul’s sermon in Acts moves from God’s choice of David directly to the promised Savior Jesus from David’s seed, making the Christological direction of David’s election explicit. The later text confirms the David-to-Jesus trajectory while leaving David’s own historical life and moral complexity intact.

Paul moves from God’s choice of David directly to the promise fulfilled by bringing Israel a Savior, Jesus, from David’s seed. The apostolic sermon explicitly links Davidic lineage and the promised Savior, making the Christological direction of the covenant line unmistakable.
