The LORD’s Oath to David
The psalm explicitly recalls the LORD’s sworn promise that David’s own descendant would sit on his throne, while also preserving covenant responsibility for David’s sons. Acts 2:30 directly interprets the oath to David in relation to the Messiah and resurrection of Jesus. This is therefore one of the Psalter’s clearest inspired Davidic-messianic connections.
