David Inquires of God and Defeats the Philistines
The Philistines attack after hearing that David has been anointed king. Twice David asks God what to do, and twice he receives direction, including a different strategy the second time. Chronicles contrasts this dependence with Saul’s failure to seek the LORD. David’s victories establish his reputation among the nations, but the chapter repeatedly attributes success to God rather than to tactical brilliance alone.
