The Desecration of Saul’s Body
Start here: The day after the battle, the Philistines came to strip the dead and found Saul and his sons. They cut off Saul’s head, stripped off his armor, and sent messengers to proclaim the news in the temple of their idols and among their people. Saul’s armor was placed in the temple of the Ashtoreths, and his body was fastened to the wall of Beth-shan.
Canonical window: The final movement brings the kingdom transition to its crisis. David survives exile and the destruction of Ziklag by seeking the LORD, while Saul reaches the end of legitimate guidance and dies on Gilboa. The book closes at the threshold of David’s reign. The connection cards below show the specific Scripture links and how strongly each one is supported. This overview does not turn every similarity into a prophecy or type.
