Ezekiel 34:1–10
Israel’s leaders are condemned as shepherds who consume the flock’s benefits while neglecting the weak, sick, injured, straying, and lost. Their failure scatters the sheep and leaves them exposed, so God promises to remove the self-serving shepherds from control of his flock.
Micaiah’s vision of Israel scattered like sheep without a shepherd joins the Bible’s larger indictment of failed rulers who leave God’s flock exposed. Ezekiel 34 later develops that shepherd-failure theology explicitly and contrasts it with God’s promise to shepherd his people rightly.
