Numbers 36:7–9
Manasseh’s leaders raise a second inheritance problem: if Zelophehad’s daughters marry outside the tribe, their land will transfer with them. YHWH therefore requires them to marry within their father’s tribe. The women obey, preserving both their right to inherit and the tribal allotment structure.
Numbers protects tribal inheritance from permanent transfer between ancestral holdings; Naboth’s language about his fathers’ inheritance belongs to that same land theology. Naboth’s refusal therefore reflects a covenant land ethic in which ancestral inheritance is not treated as ordinary disposable property.
