Return to Egypt – The Road of Obedience Begins
After much hesitation and holy persuasion, Moses finally takes the first step of obedience. He returns to Jethro, his father-in-law, and respectfully asks permission to go back to Egypt to see if his people are still alive. Jethro blesses his journey, and with that, the years of wilderness exile begin to give way to a greater purpose. Moses packs up his family, mounts a donkey, and sets out for Egypt—staff in hand, mission in heart.
It’s easy to miss the quiet power in this moment. For decades, Egypt had been a place of fear and failure for Moses. Now, it was the destination of obedience. God reassures him along the way, telling him that those who sought his life are now dead (Exodus 4:19). Still, the path ahead will not be easy.
