Joshua 6:22–25
Joshua 6 records one of the most famous victories in Israel’s history. God gave an unconventional battle plan that required faith and obedience, not military might. The fall of Jericho’s walls demonstrated God’s power to overcome impossible barriers. Rahab’s deliverance confirmed God’s faithfulness to those who trust Him, while the city’s destruction underscored the seriousness of God’s judgment.
Hebrews explicitly interprets Rahab’s survival at Jericho as the outcome of faith: she did not perish with the unbelieving because she received the spies with peace and aligned herself with Israel’s God.
Matthew explicitly places Rahab in the genealogy leading to David and Jesus, showing that the Canaanite woman spared at Jericho became part of Israel’s covenant history and the Messianic line.
