Jeremiah 4:4
The chapter opens with an urgent call to return without pretense. Israel must put away idols and live in truth, judgment, and righteousness. Jeremiah then turns circumcision into a heart image: covenant faithfulness must reach inward, not remain merely an outward sign.
Jeremiah 4:4 commands Judah to “circumcise” the heart, supplying the prophetic side of the Old Testament trajectory behind Philippians 3:3’s Spirit-defined covenant identity and rejection of confidence in the flesh.
