Numbers 21:33–35
Israel asks Sihon for peaceful passage, is attacked, and defeats him; then Og of Bashan is defeated as well. These victories give Israel control east of the Jordan and become major remembered events in Deuteronomy, Psalms, and later biblical history.
Deuteronomy expands the earlier account of Og’s defeat and the taking of Bashan. The later retelling supplies additional geographic and military detail while clearly referring to the same Bashan victory narrated in Numbers.
