Kings Defeated by Moses
Joshua 12 is a historical summary of victories under both Moses and Joshua. It shows continuity between the Transjordan victories under Moses and Joshua’s campaigns west of the Jordan.
Joshua’s list of Sihon and Og directly summarizes victories first narrated during Moses’ leadership east of the Jordan. Joshua intentionally opens its conquest ledger by remembering the victories achieved under Moses before the Jordan crossing.
