Ezekiel Names the Iniquity of Sodom
Jerusalem is compared unfavorably with Samaria and Sodom, overturning her assumption of moral superiority. Later verses define Sodom’s guilt broadly—pride, prosperous ease, neglect of the poor, and abominations—so biblical discussion of Sodom should not collapse the witness into a single isolated sin or ignore the violence of Genesis 19.
Ezekiel explicitly names Sodom and interprets her guilt more broadly: pride, prosperous ease, failure to strengthen the poor and needy, haughtiness, and abomination. This later biblical interpretation expands the canonical portrait without erasing the violence narrated in Genesis 19.
