The LORD Vindicates His People
Deuteronomy 32:36–43 is the movement “The LORD Vindicates His People.” Read it inside Moses’ final covenant instruction to Israel on the eastern side of the Jordan as the people prepare for life in the land. The section opens with: “For the LORD shall judge his people, and repent himself for his servants, when he seeth that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left.” It closes with: “Rejoice, O ye nations, with his people: for he will avenge the blood of his servants, and will render vengeance to his adversaries, and will be merciful unto his land, and to his people.”
Within the book’s larger story, this section advances several important biblical threads. Death, Life, and Resurrection: God alone kills and makes alive, wounds and heals, and no rival can deliver from His hand.
Scripture also places this passage inside a wider canonical network. Hebrews applies a line preserved in the longer Deuteronomy 32:43 tradition to the Son: God’s angels/heavenly beings are to worship him. Paul quotes the Greek form of Deuteronomy 32:43 as one witness to Gentile participation in praise. Revelation praises God because he has avenged the blood of his servants, closely matching the Song’s closing promise.
The key reading question is therefore not simply, “What rule or event appears here?” but, “What does this movement teach Israel about the LORD, covenant loyalty, life in the land, and the consequences of trusting or resisting His word?”
[Christological calibration — Explicit application with textual caution] Hebrews 1:6 applies to the Son a worship line preserved in the longer ancient textual tradition of Deuteronomy 32:43. The line is absent from the Masoretic Text/KJV wording but has Greek and Qumran support. This is a major Christological thread, and the manuscript-history caveat is part of the evidence, not a reason to hide the connection.
