The Covenant Lawsuit: Remember What God Has Done
Micah 6 opens like a courtroom. Mountains and ancient foundations are summoned to hear the LORD’s “controversy” with his people. Creation functions as enduring witness while God asks a heartbreaking question: “O my people, what have I done unto thee?” The covenant Judge first reminds Israel of grace.
The evidence begins with Exodus redemption: God brought Israel out of Egypt and sent Moses, Aaron, and Miriam. Then he names Balak and Balaam and the journey “from Shittim unto Gilgal.” Those memories compress a large stretch of Torah and Joshua into one argument: Israel has repeatedly been carried, protected, blessed, and brought into the land by the LORD.
