Aaron Stands between the Dead and the Living
The congregation rebels again, a plague begins, and Moses sends Aaron with incense into the dying camp. Aaron makes atonement and stands “between the dead and the living” until the plague stops. The same priesthood Korah challenged now becomes the means through which the congregation is preserved.
Christological mirror: Aaron’s priestly act is a powerful mediation scene. Christian canonical reading can compare the priest standing between death and life with Christ’s greater priestly intercession—but Numbers does not present this as a direct prophecy, and Aaron’s ritual action should not be allegorized detail by detail.
