A Voluntary Season Set Apart to YHWH
A Nazirite is an Israelite who voluntarily enters a special period of separation to YHWH. During that period the person avoids grape products, does not cut the hair, and avoids corpse impurity even for close relatives. This is not a separate priesthood; it is a temporary form of heightened dedication open to men or women.
Test the Tradition: “Nazarene” and “Nazirite” are not the same category. Jesus is identified with Nazareth in the Gospels; he is never said to be under the Numbers 6 Nazirite vow. Any connection should be described only as a broad consecration resonance, not a hidden fulfillment.
