Freedom That Serves through Love
Christian freedom is not permission to indulge the flesh. Paul deliberately turns the language of slavery inside out: those called to liberty should “by love serve one another.” He then quotes Leviticus 19:18—love your neighbor as yourself—and says the whole law is fulfilled in that word. Freedom from using Torah as the basis of justification therefore does not become moral lawlessness; Spirit-shaped love fulfills the law’s neighbor-directed aim.
